The Christmas holidays provide a wealth of pastimes far superior than checking the updates: discovering surprises, feasting on holiday treats, and using deep breathing to refrain from arguing with family members. It is wished you succeeded in enjoy all these things and more. That said, the world of entertainment doesn't take a break, and this is notably true for the realm of anime. Numerous exciting news items emerged during the festive period, and just in case you didn't see some of them, here is a compilation of the juiciest bits.
The One-Punch Man Series Its Third Season Will Continue (By 2027)
Perhaps the most surprising revelation, the much-discussed troubled production that was season 3 of One-Punch Man wasn't enough to stop the series' continuation. Season 3 will be back with a second cour in 2027—so far away they might as well have dubbed it season 4. Adding to the surprise, the studio J.C. Staff will remain in charge. On a positive note this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is on board to direct from the beginning, which is seen as a positive development. Yet, the promotional image for the continuation is a mirror of the one used for season 3, just with characters Saitama and Garou looking opposite ways. This makes me think that, at this point, they could be mocking the fans.
The Ruri Dragon Series Will Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime By Kyoto Animation
Kyoto Animation has forged a name for being an prestigious animation studio, setting itself apart not just for the superb artistry of its productions but for the ethical practices of its employees—a uncommon practice in the industry. Unexpectedly, until now, it had not adapted an anime stemming from a manga serialized in Shonen Jump, arguably the most famous magazine in the field. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a superb choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo became a huge following when it debuted in 2022 after just a small number of issues, but then went into a two-year hiatus due to the creator's health issues. When it came back with a lighter schedule, the series proved it maintained the fans' appreciation and enthusiasm, and now the community is ecstatic about the upcoming KyoAni adaptation.
The Kingdom Series Season 6 Is Getting a Follow-Up Currently in Production
Kingdom is the highly popular, epic Shueisha manga that is aside from One Piece. If you've are unfamiliar with it before, it's because it only recently got an English release, but the anime has been airing for some time, and season 6 was another stellar entry. It turns out that was just the first half, because a "sequel" has been confirmed as in development, and it will very likely air in 2026.
Science Saru Will Adapt A Witch in Mongolia To Anime
A further studio famous for the artistic merit of its work, Science Saru has given us critically acclaimed works of the caliber of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, most recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be handling the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the real historical figure of Fatima, an influential woman and intellectual in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Judging from the trailer, the anime named Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a distinctly fresh and intriguing visual style, which is somewhat reminiscent of Ranking of Kings. Debuting in July 2026, this one will without a doubt be on my watchlist.
Tougen Anki Will Return With a Season Two
Shortly after the conclusion of its twenty-fourth episode, it was revealed that Tougen Anki will be receiving a sequel. Based on the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki brings to life the manga by Yura Urushibara. The upcoming season of the anime will cover the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a specific release date has not yet been announced.
