Rob Edwards along with Gary O'Neil represent the initial candidates under consideration to replace Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

The previous coach was dismissed on the weekend following the squad's ten-game without a victory start to the top-flight campaign.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous associations to the club - are among the options to be considered by the club leadership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would pose a potential obstacle to his hiring at Wolves' stadium.

However the ex- Luton Town head coach - who played more than 100 of games for Wolves during his playing career - is considered a strong contender for the vacancy.

The mid-career manager is said to have backing from the Wolves directors as they start the process of hiring a new head coach.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, although he would be a shock choice considering he was sacked by the club in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is out of work which means Wolves would not be required to provide any buyout fee.
