The network's Top Fresh Series of 2025 Gets a Significant Extension for Seasons 2 and 3.

In October of last year, Adult Swim saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the channel introduced a fresh animated series with a markedly softer vibe. Haha, You Clowns proved to be sweet and soothing, evoking a cartoon version of a laid-back talk show. At a time often marked by cynicism, this show's wholesomeness resonated deeply and propelled it a surprise hit.

A Major Commitment

In mid-December, the network made a major announcement: Haha, You Clowns has been renewed for a further two seasons. This gives showrunner Joe Cappa significant creative freedom to develop the world of the Campbell family. The show centers on three well-mannered teenage brothers whose central trait is their profound affection for their single father, with Cappa portraying for all four main characters.

"I am incredibly thankful to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and spread the word," said Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for a little longer."

Network Praise

Accompanying the news laudits from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and supported its distinctly quirky sensibility.

"All of you supported this new show, championed for it on social media, and grew it week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," said Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Different Kind of Comedy

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was described as "a comforting antidote" to other adult animated fare. It offers something deeply soothing about observing this endearing family go about their everyday routines.

At the time, creator Joe Cappa stated his hope to evolve comedy past its current sarcastic tone. He traced this trend to various cultural shifts.

“We're stuck in a cycle of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” explained Cappa. “It's like we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for a decade, and we just have to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

The Path Forward

Given this two-season order, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa could potentially be part of that comedic shift. Or at the very least, the renewal promises audiences additional episodes to enjoy the warm glow of the beloved Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. All episodes is ready to watch on HBO Max.
