Tottenham Boss Frank Calls Vicario Critics 'Not True Real Fans'

The Cottagers Start Strong to Beat Spurs and Increase Pressure on the Manager

Tottenham Hotspur fans who jeered goalkeeper Vicario were told later "those individuals can't be real Spurs fans" by manager Thomas Frank.

Tottenham let in two scores in the first six minutes to lose 2-1 to their opponents, marking their 10th Premier League at home defeat of the year.

However the main topic of discussion was Fulham's second goal when Vicario lost the ball well outside his box.

The goalkeeper ventured out to handle a high pass and carried the ball towards the touchline.

However, rather than kicking it into touch, the Italy international turned and tried to clear away, but lost his footing as the ball skimmed off Harry Wilson and was collected by Josh King.

The forward passed the ball off to Welsh midfield player Wilson, who bent a strike into the goal from the touchline measured at 36.6 yards.

Seconds later when the ball came to the keeper once more, a number of Tottenham supporters booed him.

The team were booed off at half-time, with the side 2-0 behind, and once more at full-time.

A particular of those booing sessions truly irritated Frank.

"It came to my attention a few of our supporters apparently booed the incident and booed following, which, in my view is completely unjustifiable," the Dane commented regarding the fans' response to his shot-stopper.

"Those individuals cannot be true Spurs supporters that act that way. Alright jeering after the game, fine, but when we are playing, we are backing each other, we are with each other going forward."

Tete had given the visitors a early advantage before Wilson's goal – with Mohammed Kudus scoring for Spurs in an improved second period showing.

Former top-flight goalkeeper Joe Hart stated that the next score was "completely avoidable".

"I certainly appreciate the fans' frustration," Hart added. "I am aware the part the keeper is playing. He's a great team player, he's a real leader in the dressing room but in the end you are going to be judged by your decisions.

"The keeper was heavily implicated in what turned out to be the winning score."

'It's Part of Football, I Can Handle It'

Thomas Frank Defended His Goalkeeper Vicario Following the Game

Italy national team Vicario is in his third season with Spurs.

He stated following the match that he had to take the feedback.

"The second goal was a error of my own, I accept accountability for it," he commented.

"My aim was to clear the ball far and I just hit the ball in a poor manner. That made an even bigger challenge to overcome."

He stated receiving jeers "is part of football".

"I am mature, what can I say?" he added. "We cannot be affected by the circumstances in the stands. The fans have the entitlement to do as they see fit.

"It's on the team to stay more composed, to focus on our own performance. We are missing in calmness and calmness to reverse outcomes. Today is a poor defeat and it is hard to take."

'It Shocked Me Nobody Went Back to the Goal Line'

In spite of Vicario's error, it was not an easy goal for Wilson to convert.

In fact it was the second longest-range top division goal of the campaign – following Adams' forty-three point three metre goal for Bournemouth against Sunderland, which incidentally too came on the same day.

The goalscorer said he was "somewhat taken aback" that he still had an open net to aim for.

Ten moments elapsed between the keeper coming out of his box and the midfielder striking – which was five seconds after the clearance.

"It seemed to me like the keeper was out of the box for a long time," Wilson said.

"I was surprised not one of the defenders went back to the line. When not one of them covered the net, my eyes sparked a bit.

"Udogie slipped too, which allowed me a bit of extra time. After that it was all about attempting to make the right connection and get it towards goal. I felt a positive sense, the moment it came off my foot, that it was on the right line."

'During in a Poor Run, All Seems to Work Against You'

Jeering Whilst We Are Still in Play Is Completely Unjustifiable - the Manager

Although Vicario's error led coverage, this was an overall bad day for Tottenham to extend their home struggles.

This was their tenth home defeat of 2025 in the Premier League, a shared team record along with 1994 and two thousand and three.

They still have home fixtures against the manager's old side the Bees and champions Liverpool to come prior to the end of the year.

Just a single of those victories have occurred after the manager took over from his predecessor in the summer.

"If you are behind 2-0 after six minutes, there is a huge challenge to climb," stated the boss.

"During in a poor run, everything appears to go against you as well – the first was a deflected attempt, the second is a error from Vic.

"This result leaves us in a position where we have lost an additional match. Each fixture has a unique narrative, this game we were defeated in the first six minutes.

"We simply need to keep working. The later period was significantly improved and with luck an aspect we can use to learn."

Tottenham have lost four straight at home capital clashes for the first time in the Premier League.

And they are recording nine point five attempts and 3.2 efforts on goal per game in the division – their lowest rates on file in a single season (since at least 2003-04).

Former Fulham midfield player Danny Murphy stated that the manager has to endure the criticism.

"He's got take the criticism," Murphy remarked. "He's accepted a high profile role at a major team with massive expectation. There is pressure and duty that accompanies that.

"Their showings at home have been disappointing and they have to improve {quickly|
